Application
Because hydrosols are super gentle on the skin, they can be used multiple times a day.
Here are a few ways to add floral water to your beauty routine:
Use with a face or body oil to help the oil absorb into the skin.
Spray the hydrosol liberally onto your skin, then apply the oil while your skin is still damp. This provides the same benefits as using a cream or lotion, only without the added emulsifiers and preservatives.
Spray your face 3 to 4 times a day to refresh your complexion. This will leave your skin plump, nourished, hydrated and looking its best.
Use it to set your makeup. Spray a little on after your makeup is done to help it stay in place. A post-makeup mist will give your skin a gorgeous dewy finish and help your makeup look more natural.
Spray a little hydrosol onto a cotton pad to remove your makeup. You can do this before cleansing or after cleansing to remove any remaining makeup or residue.
Use it after cleansing to balance your skin's pH. Most of the water in our homes is neutral or slightly alkaline, whereas our skin's acid mantle has an optimum pH of 5.5, which is slightly acidic and helps to prevent the growth of bacteria on the skin. A toner is also slightly acidic and can help to restore your skin's pH after cleansing or rinsing with tap water.
Use instead of water when mixing powdered masks for added benefits. This also allows you to customize your mask using different hydrosols depending on what your skin needs most at any given time.

Although hydrosols are much less concentrated than essential oils, it is wise to use hydrosols with caution and to follow reasonable safety precautions.

It is strongly recommended that you do not take hydrosols internally without consulting a qualified Aromatherapy practitioner who has formal and in-depth training and experience in the use of hydrosols.
Hydrosols are water-based and are highly susceptible to microbial contamination. If you are considering consuming a hydrosol, it is very important to work with a fresh hydrosol that is free of microbial contamination and has no added preservatives. Not all suppliers understand the risk of contamination and routinely perform microbial testing on their hydrosols.
If you are pregnant, have epilepsy, have liver damage, have cancer, or have any other medical conditions, discuss your health with a qualified Aromatherapy practitioner.
Be aware that hydrosols, essential oils, tinctures, and other herbs and natural aromatics can potentially interact with pharmaceuticals.
While hydrosols are generally considered safe for topical use, everyone is different. It is a good idea to do a skin patch test when trying a hydrosol for the first time.
