What is blue light?

Every colour we see is part of the visible light spectrum, and each has its own wavelength and energy. At one end of the visible spectrum there’s low energy, long wavelength red light, whilst at the other end there’s higher energy, short wavelength blue light.

?The largest source of blue light is the sun and it’s needed for general good health, playing a key role in boosting alertness, cognitive function and regulating the circadian rhythm.

But too much exposure to that high energy light can cause health issues over time including poor sleep, dry eyes and headaches. The usual culprits are devices like mobile phones, TVs and computer screens which all emit a significant amount of blue light.

In an ideal world reducing exposure would be the answer, but unfortunately the reality is that it's easier said than done in today's modern world which relies so heavily on screens for work and education. ?Having researched many potential options, we concluded that the best practical solution was blue light glasses.

Whilst there are many blue light glasses on the market, we wanted to make sure we developed ours utilising the latest scientific research available and sustainable lightweight materials.
