HOW DO I USE THE COLORS?
We recommend mixing the color powders with a very small amount of water or glycerin (approx. ¼ tsp liquid to 1 tsp powder) to make a paste, so they blend easily into the recipe. For pastels, use ¼ tsp per cup of mixture. For strong colors, use full packet.
Refresh powders instantly with a couple drops of water. If blending a liquid recipe, or in a food processor, you may add the color powders directly into the recipe after testing a small amount to ensure the color will dissolve thoroughly.
Heat and Natural Colors Natural colors can be heat sensitive and start to fade at 200-250 degrees, resulting in more pastel colors. When working with heated recipes, like a gummy candy, mix colors into a liquid first and then add into the cooling phase for maximum color vibrancy. For cakes and other larger portion baked goods, a recipe with a shorter bake time or lower heat is recommended.
