Natural marine oil is used to tan the sheepskin leather to make it soft and durable, so it's normal to have a slight fish smell. The smell usually goesaway after several washes.
Unlike synthetic fibres, this natural chamois cloth is made of sheepskin leather, which is scratch free and super soft with great extensibility. Re-use gun cleaning chamois over and over. Dirty it up and gun will return to brand new.
How to cleaning the chamois:
Recommended to soak in warm water <40°C for 10 minutes, then rub and wring it out.,Avoid high temperature.Avoid harsh chemicals.Use hand soap or car intended soap only. Dry the chamois naturally Avoiddirect sunlight.
Step 1 –After use rinse your leather by hand in warm soapy water. A bar of pure soap that you would wash your hands with or pure soap flakes will be ideal.
Step 2 –Once the dirt is cleaned out of the chamois then rinse again in clean warm water and re-lather some soap back into the leather – this will help keep it soft.
Step 3–Next gently squeeze out the excess water, stretch out and hang up to dry naturally.
Step 4 –Once completely dry, you should then “scrunch up” your chamois leather, rubbing it together or working it across a smooth hard surface. This “softens” your leather to make it more easily foldable.
Step 5 –Your shammy can then be folded or rolled and stored in a dry container, but only when completely dry.
